Arksen 85

Design number: 213 Year: 2019

The Arksen 85, the first of the range of fast-displacement, Arctic Explorer yachts to be developed, has been an exciting and intensive project for the HYD team.

With a challenging brief to meet specific performance, comfort, and safety requirements in combination with minimising environmental impact, the design of the Arksen 85 has undergone extensive research and development to find the optimum balance of features.

The highly refined hull form will provide exceptional handling and long-range cruising potential. Hull number one will feature a serial hybrid propulsion system and extensive solar arrays, coupled with a large battery bank for extended silent running, both at slow speeds and overnight anchoring.

Humphreys Yacht Design are responsible for the exterior styling, design and naval architecture on the range of Arksen vessels, working in collaboration with Chartwell Marine (structural engineering), Cape Horn Engineering and KND Sailing Performance (RansCFD) and the Wolfson Unit (tank testing). Interior design is by Design Unlimited, while the build of the Arksen vessels taking place at Wights Shipyard in Cowes, UK.
