Oyster 885 Sea Trials

The Southampton Boat Show marked the launch of two new Humphreys designed models for Oyster Marine, the Oyster 885 and the Oyster 725. The design of the Oyster 885 included a comprehensive tank test program and incorporates a number of significant advancements. Oyster 885-01 is under the ownership of Formula 1 legend Eddie Jordan – his third successive Humphreys designed sailing yacht. The yacht is currently sea-trialing in The Solent and early indications are extremely promising. Neil Mackley from North Sails UK was particularly excited by the performance of the Oyster 885 and commented “it has been an extremely encouraging few days sailing on the Oyster 885. Performance wise she is hitting some impressive speeds. Upwind in 12-14 knots true with just a handful of crew, she has been sailing comfortably at 9.5-10 knots of boat speed which is pretty impressive considering her blue water cruising capabilities and we’re looking forward to getting the spinnakers out next!”
