Oystercatcher XXVIII competed in her maiden regatta at Key West Race Week 2011. With sailing trials cut short after her launch in Wellington, NZ in October 2010 due to strong winds, Key West represented the first real sailing to be done on the yacht and was to be regarded very much as a training event. With winds ranging from 6-14 knots for the week, Oystercatcher showed well over the short windward-leeward courses in this highly competitive fleet of TP52’s.

It proved to be an extremely valuable learning experience for all involved in terms of crew work, boat handling and learning the strengths and weaknesses of the design and we expect a strong showing for this design over the course of 2011.
