Humphreys Yacht Design has expressed its delight that the Impression 344, a fast cruising family boat created by the Lymington-based design house for Elan Yachts, has won the prestigious European Yacht of the Year Award.
Presented at the Düsseldorf Yacht Show 2006, the Impression 344 was chosen from nearly 100 candidates by senior yachting journalists from all over Europe to win the under ten-metre category.
The selection process included exhaustive sailing trials to put the boats through their paces, and every aspect of the boats’ build and performance was carefully considered.
“We are very pleased with this accolade,” commented Rob Humphreys of Humphreys Yacht Design. “With the Impression 344 we set out to create a family cruising boat that provided space and comfort without any compromise in looks or performance. The reception since her introduction last year has been just fantastic, as has been that for her sister-ships; the 384 and 434.”
While Humphreys Yacht Design is a growing force in the superyacht market, with a number of major projects either under construction or at the advanced design stage, the company continues to also lead the way in the design of smaller sailing yachts, being responsible for the current Oyster, Elan, Impression and Southerly ranges.
