HYD at Explorer Yacht Summit 2023

With the successful handover of the Arksen Project Pelagos and other HYD designed explorer yachts either in-build ( including the 50m at JFA Yachts) or in development, this November we sent Martin Chambers, one of our team, to the BOAT International Media Explorer Yachts Summit at the Yacht Club de Monaco.

We were keen to hear the latest insights and updates on the explorer yachting sector from a stellar line-up of yacht owners, captains and inspiring adventurers. Stand out moments of the day included discussions around the evolution of the explorer market, compelling speeches from explorer @mike horn Mike Horn and the Explorers Club Richard Wiese, as well as some truly inspiring stories from the Yachts for Science program.

We particularly enjoyed hearing from the Pocket Explorer Panel about their experiences of owning an explorer. Discussions around shallow draft, forward facing sonar, protection of drivetrain, and maintaining operability in extreme temperatures were all consistently raised as key to creating optimum experiences, which very much resonated with our own experiences from designing in the Explorer yacht sector.

It was a truly insightful and engaging day and we’re already looking forward to returning next year.
