Oyster 82

Design number: 125 Year: 2001

The Oyster 82 is top of the range of Humphreys-designed Oysters and epitomises everything that our team has learnt and enjoyed about designing this series of blue water cruising yachts. To quote one owner: “The perfection and beauty of my Oyster 82 exceeds all my expectations.”

The 82 is a fine example of what can be achieved when the naval architect works in harmony with the builder to create a fine vessel with potential for sea-going adventures and racing, as well as relaxed family cruising. From every angle the Oyster 82 looks stylish and well-balanced, but she proves her pedigree when flying along in a stiff breeze, showing a truly fine sailing yacht capable of many 240-mile days of passage-making.

This member of the Oyster family features a split cockpit area. The twin wheels and sailing controls are positioned aft for easy access by the helmsman; forward of that is a protected seating area with extendible tables for al fresco dining. The fact that the two areas are connected provides an amenable layout where crew and guests can socialise with each other at the business end of the craft while enjoying a degree of comfort and the exhilaration of the ride.

The interior layout of the 82 can be configured to fulfil the owner’s wishes and requirements. The wide 6.32m beam and long waterline provide generous interior space with full-height headroom along a central passageway leading to the owner’s suite. Up to ten fellow sailing companions can be accommodated comfortably below-decks, with the option of separate crew quarters situated forward. An upper saloon area offers a panoramic view of the yacht’s external surroundings when seated, and has convenient access to the cockpit. The lower saloon features a snug area with coffee table and audio-visual equipment.
