Paul Kelly (above right) reviews some archive drawings with Rob Humphreys and discusses the finer points of the original design philosophy. Paul is our full-time yacht broker who has been setting up our brokerage division since the early part of 2009. He comes with considerable experience, both on and off the water and with first class brokerage qualifications. As a yachtsman Paul is well acquainted with Humphreys designs, having skippered one of the Challenge 72s in the Global Challenge race of 2004, and as a yacht broker he has enjoyed great success in the industry.

Humphreys Brokerage has full governing body accreditation and because of its obviously close relationship with Humphreys Yacht Design – among other things sharing the same roof – it will be well-placed to support the buying and selling process, with extensive archive access and direct, continuous contact with the design team. Whilst it will for obvious reasons specialise in Humphreys designs it will not necessarily be limited to them because our collective enthusiasm and immersion in the sailing world has already encouraged owners of other designers’ boats to ask for theirs to be listed on our books.

With the coincident launch of our new website and our Brokerage business we are very happy to open our activities with an initial listing of over 100 boats, a great many of them Oysters, Elans and Southerlys from the Humphreys stable. Paul is looking forward to guiding and advising you through the selling and purchasing process whether you are buying a yacht through us, or need representation to help with VAT or title issues, he will be more than happy to assist.
