Rob Humphreys first made his name as a racing yacht designer and even with the design office now broadening its horizons with an increasing number of cruising, production and motor yachts, HYD is still heavily involved on the racing scene.

Since Rob's first major success with Jade, winning the One Ton World Championship in 1985, Humphreys boats have won numerous top-level championships, Fastnet Race, King's Cup, Copa del Rey, Spi Ouest, The ARC, Trans Atlantics, EDS Challenge, Route du Rhum and many more...

Recent high profile projects that HYD have been involved with include Ellen MacArthur's Open 60 Kingfisher (designed in collaboration with Owen Clarke) and the BT Global Challenge Fleet. Rob Humphreys is also a leading member of the GBR Challenge design team, having initially joined in 2001and now retained for the next, European-based challenge.
