The MG38

The MG38 was commissioned by Peter Fairley, at the time the UK agent for Harken Equipment. Peter is a vastly experienced sailor who was instrumental in introducing the Etchells 22 into the United Kingdom.

In Pinocchio VI, the prototype MG 38, he wanted a boat that would give him good club racing but at the same time a real cruising potential. With his young family crew Peter was consistently near the top of his class at Scottish Series, Cork Week, West Highland Week and indeed Pinocchio was second in Class 4 in Cowes Week. The family also cruised the boat extensively, around Scotland (including the very North of Unst in the Shetlands), around Ireland and to Brittanny.
