The first order has been taken for the new Oyster 525, designed by Rob Humphreys and his team at Humphreys Yacht Design.

The 525 is the latest craft created under the Oyster ‘g5’ (fifth generation) styling paradigm that has been such a success in designs including the 46, 72, and the 655 unveiled last year. A common theme across all the new Oysters has been the combination of a modern and stylish deck and coach roof with a fast, distortion-free hull, and the 525 is no exception. At the same time an unusually spacious cockpit marks the new model out as being particularly well suited for warm water cruising, while down below the large and airy saloon provides an ideal area for relaxation and entertainment for the owners and their guests, otherwise accommodated in an owners’ stateroom and three further cabins.

While a luxurious and elegant cruising yacht, the Oyster 525 has more than a touch of the thoroughbred about her, with the Humphreys hull and sail plan giving her plenty of power for fast passage making and downwind excitement for those seeking to make the most of her potential. The hull will be constructed using a combination of E-glass, Kevlar and carbon fibre giving her an unmatched combination of strength and stiffness while providing significant weight savings over conventional materials.

The first yacht has been sold off-plan to Sir Peter Davis, former Chairman of Sainsburys plc and owner of four previous Oysters. She is expected to undertake sea trials this autumn and will be on public display at the London Boat Show held at Excel in January 2008.
