Spirit of tradition meets modern performance

The Tempus 90 not only features naval architecture and exterior design by Humphreys, but we curated her interior too. Accommodating six guests and three crew in comfortable, beautifully appointed cabins, this first hull, Tempus Fugit, was applauded for its superb standard of finish and stunning aesthetic appeal

The first hull

This was HYD’s first design commission for the Arkin Pruva Shipyard. The Tempus 90 was inspired by the J Class and intended to be a smaller, more manageable model for owners to campaign with competitively. The yacht is constructed in cold moulded wood on a massive iroko keelson, giving her great rigidity. Though repeat builds were intended, only one Tempus 90 was ever built – thus making her a unique superyacht.

Under sail

The Tempus 90 has an excellent turn of speed, exquisite balance, and enviable handling characteristics. Nearly 40 per cent of the Tempus 90’s 62-tonne displacement is in her ballast keel, giving her exceptional sail-carrying power upwind.

The owner of Tempus Fugit enjoyed participation in several famous regattas, including the Regates Royales in Cannes, Les Voiles de St Tropez, the NYYC Annual Regatta, and events in Rhode Island. Tempus Fugit won her class and claimed second place overall at the 2016 Superyacht Cup in Palma.

Interior styling

Described by many as a ‘yachtsman’s yacht’, Tempus Fugit’s predominantly teak interior pairs traditional cabinetry with more intricate, subtle details and neutral upholstery. The cabins are spacious, and a large, social cockpit is ideal for dining and evenings spent at anchor.

‘We wanted to produce a well balanced, nice sailing boat that wasn’t at all clunky and wasn’t going to rely on having pro sailors. The Js originally were racing machines – the Tempus class has been developed to be fast but with good manners.’
